Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) is also known as Wuhan pneumonia or Wuhan coronavirus. It belongs to the same class of viruses as SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome).
While SARS is more dangerous in terms of mortality Wuhan coronavirus seems to be more contagious. SARS had about average 11% mortality rate.
Currently, there are 2.4% of fatal cases attributed to the Wuhan coronavirus.
The mortality rate from all causes pneumonia is between 5% and 10%

I am wondering if panic promoted by Media is justified?

The best way to prevent atypical pneumonia caused by the Wuhan coronavirus or to make it mild and self-limiting would be a healthy diet and the following supplements.

- Vitamin C (as Sodium Ascorbate) – 4 g per day. It should be increased to the tolerance level if you get the actual infection
- Astragalus extract
- Zinc
- Baical skullcap
- Lomatium

Blood Test – Important Items

I recommend everyone over 45 to ask their GP to include the following items in your next blood test.
  1. hsCRP (High sensitivity C reactive protein). If your CRP is greater than 1 mg/L then you have some level of inflammation in your body.
  2. PTH (Parathyroid hormone). When this hormone is high, your calcium is being taken from your bones regardless of how many calcium supplements you are taking. High levels may also be a sign of a vitamin D deficiency or a magnesium deficiency.
  3. Ferritin – a protein that stores iron in the liver. If there is no liver disease then high Ferritin reading, which is still within a reference range, would indicate bacterial infection.
  4. Vitamin D. Vitamin D status is not just about your Calcium absorption. Since vitamin D stimulates cell differentiation, it is an important cancer protecting vitamin.
  5. Homocysteine – an amino acid, which is a by-product of methionine metabolism. Homocysteine accumulation is linked to atherosclerosis and dementia.

Liver Herbs Worked Well

7/4/2018

Recently I had a client who had a high GGT reading while other liver enzymes were within reference ranges. The client was not an alcoholic and he did not have any liver diseases. He lost quite a bit of weight in the last few years. I looked at the fasting client's blood using dark field microscopy. There were many chylomicrons which were not supposed to be seen after 12 hours of fasting.

I asked the client to take herbal tablets containing Milk Thistle, Dandelion, Rehmania, Bupleurum, Baical Skullcap and Schisandra. After 3 weeks I checked the client's blood again.
